I began playing bass at about 14, and music became a huge part of my life. Going to local metal shows, meeting other musicians, and absorbing as much music culture as I could was the foundation I built the rest on. I began playing guitar at about 16, and never looked back. Through the years, I have played in several bands, everything from jam rock worship music to metalcore. Through that, I found my love of the “bigger picture” of music life like recording, mastering, and collaborating.
I began recording myself at around 16 years old. I was also lucky enough to receive some training from the Mendocino College Recording Arts Lab. Micing up a Peavey rage 15 amp with a cheap plastic computer microphone was where I got my start, and I became obsessed with manipulating and capturing music. Those were interesting times, but they taught me about my passion.
Once guitar plugins became available, I became a heavy user of them from the get-go. I learned how to use, manipulate, and get the best from them to continue learning the recording process. Keeping up with the digital technology since then has been a passion of mine. These days, I have my own solo project, the Josh Hammond Project, a Youtube page with guitar oriented videos, and an immense amount of hours in the studio environment. The best part is, I’m still learning every day, and hope to share some wisdom!
